vEmAru kottalAya viSvalOkapatiki ||
How can we describe the splendor of Sri Venkatesa the lord of all 'Lokas'. Though all "Puranas" extolled his glory in thousands of ways, his stories are ever new.
C 1 pAlajalanidhi lOna palumAru tElagAnu
neelavarNamella bOyi ninDu telupainaTTu
mElimi kappura kApu mEni ninDA ninchagAnu
pOlikE vErokaTAya purushOttamuniki ||
Sri Maha Vishnu floats on milky ocean always and perhaps because of it his blue complexion vanished and he became white. In the same way Sri Venkatesa is looking differently because of white camphor smeared all over his body.
C 2 vEDuka kALindi lOna vEmAru eedagAnu
ADanE kammara nalupainaTTu
tODanE taTTupunugu toppa dOga ninchagAnu
jADa vErokaTAya sarvESvaruniki ||
Sri Krishna swam in black water of Kalindi river and so he perhaps turned black. So also Sri Venkatesa turned black because black fragrant "Punugu" is smeared all over his body.
C 3 alamElumanga nuramandunE nilupagAnu
alari bangAru varNamainaTTu
nalugaDa sommulatO nAnA varNamulu
nilichE Sri vEnkaTa nilaya mooritiki ||
As Alamelumanga occupied Sri Venkatesa's chest, he turned golden yellow. Similarly when Venkatesa's statue is decorated with many gold ornaments, he is glittering beautifully in gold color.
